Welcome to The James 2 Project site. We're glad you stopped by! So, what is The James 2 Project? Always wanting to serve somehow through crocheting, I started the project after reading Alex and Brett Harris' book Do Hard Things. A simple book, a simple message, but it encouraged me to look for ways to serve Christ instead of waiting for them to come my way. After a some praying, God gave me the idea to make and collect hats for orphans.
James 2:14-17 says "What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,' but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
This verse is the foundation of the project. No, giving hats away does not save us, but it does reflect what Christ has done in our hearts. Giving hats away to clothe those who are “naked and destitute” allows us to love others because Christ has always loved us.
If you are interested in helping out with this project and have any questions, feel free to comment. I usually start collecting hats starting in August or September and continue through the end of November.
Looking forward to seeing what God will continue to do through this project. Thank you for all of your help!
